• Bus Stop Safety Review Request Form

  • If you believe there is a safety concern with your student's bus stop location please complete this form. Please review our transportation webpage at www.district279.org/services/transportation and Transportation Policy 707 prior to completing this form.

    At the beginning of each school year - No bus stop changes will be made or reviewed until October as routes are fixed and school bus drivers are learning their routes.

  • I understand that bus stops are designed to service several students in a neighborhood and are located as centrally possible for all students assigned.*
  • I understand that bus stops cannot be established based upon personal circumstances: such as employment, daycare, line-of-site issues, personal issues, etc...*

  • I understand that buses are not permitted to travel into cul-de-sacs, private roads or dead-end streets.*
  • I understand the availability of sidewalks/paved pathways are not considered due to most of the neighborhoods served were designed without them.*
  • I understand that the bus driving past my home does not warrant changing/moving the bus stop*
  • I understand that being able to see the bus stop from your home does not warrant changing/moving the stop location. *

    • Is the stop reasonably centrally located for all students based on geographic and roadway design?

    • Has a "SCHOOL BUS STOP AHEAD" sign been placed prior to the stop if it has been determined to have restricted sight (300' or less) visibility due to being placed on the crest/downgrade of a hill or at some point on a curve?
    • Is the stop free of some type of road construction or other construction taking place that poses a danger to students at the stop?
    • Is the stop free of obstructions that lessen student, motorist, and school bus driver visibility, including shrubbery, utility poles, walls, fences, trees?
